Dressed in similar attire, Stef and I thought it appropriate to document our outfits. I'm in my thrifted, grey leather jacket and a DIY bleached out tank. Stef had this amazing fuchsia muscle shirt with a printed wave on the left that spelled out TROPIX. The best part was that it was originally her dads shirt during his rock star days.

prepping for a print-power-punch-out!

Welcome!

This is a piece that I did for the 24-hour print workshop that was held this fall for the print media department at York University. We were allowed to do whatever we wanted as long as we started and finished whatever we did. This piece is called Welcome.

Areej Kaoud in Print Parade

Here is work by my dear friend Areej Kaoud.

Print Parade!

The Sr. print media students at York were all invited to put up works for a group show that's running March 23 to March 27, 2009 at the Gales Gallery on the York University campus. As a joke, a student (who has now graduated) suggested the name Ink Parade as a title for last years collaborative print show. The mockery suggestion of Ink Parade somehow resurfaced this year and the deviant, Print Parade was selected. The title wouldn't have been my first choice but we all rolled with the punches and printed out invitations and posters for the Print Parade! Here is the poster invitation and a few of my dear artist-friends work!

After finally conquering my irrational lithography fears, I took a litho course and experimented with printing on fabric. The result: A feather stuffed soft sculpture.

I was given this fantastic opportunity to print posters (along with a friend) for Chicago based designer, Rick Valecenti for a talk he was giving March 18, 2009 at the Arts and Letters Club down town. We printed an edition of 60 posters which were sold with the profits benefiting the York University Design Department (http://www.yorku.ca/yfile/archive/index.asp?Article=12225). For more about Rick Valecenti and his design work check this out! Because Rick lives in Chicago, friend Paul Sych was able to come in to our print studio and connect with myself and my printing partner about the job. Paul is Canadian graphic designer working for his self-created company, Faith. More about Paul and his work can be found here.
